WeAudition: Actors Pro Expo Attendee Heads to Hollywood!

Harry Palmer is an Actor, Musician and Fight Performer. Plays dark, charming, manipulative and quietly dangerous characters. Trained in Screen Combat and Firearms. Harry from the U.K. just returned this week from Los Angeles after attending the Episodic Season Program with The Hollywood Initiative. We sat down with Harry on his experience with the 10-day intensive program.

Q. How was your experience attending the international program in LA with the Hollywood Initiative?

A. Attending the international program in LA was one of the most worthwhile decisions I have made as an actor. The level of training and support I received was of the highest standard. The course was carefully planned out to give its students the maximum amount of time with each mentor, whilst allowing enough time to prepare for each class.

Q. What was a key moment of growth during the program?

A. I think my key moment of growth was working with the casting directors who had been invited onto the program. Due to the pandemic, all my auditions have been via self-tape, so it was nice to be in the room with a casting director to work & rework a scene and to gain feedback on how to improve. Also working with Clay Banks on how to command the space was a big eye opener for me.

Q. What was your favorite part of the program?

A. Tough question to answer as I thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of the program but a highlight for me was working with photograph Chris Jon. The quality of headshots he delivered are unparalleled. I have never known a photographer to work so quickly and concisely.

Q. What was the calibre of coaches and mentors?

A. I would say the calibre of coaches and mentors was of the highest quality. Each coach brought their years of unique experience in their field to the program. Having all the coaches share those experiences gave us a full perspective of the industry and allowed us to choose which techniques we felt would work for us.

Q. Did you have support throughout the program?

A. 100%. You are supported every step of the way through the program.

Q. Was it an intense 10 days?

A. It was a very intense 10 days but if you’re prepared ahead of time and allow yourself to be open to the experience then you will find it hugely rewarding.

Q. Do you have a clearer vision now of the steps it takes not only to move to LA but to advance in your career?

A. I would say I have much clearer vision of my path to move to LA and gaining my O1 Visa. Working with the immigration attorney and learning the immigration process gives you a clear understanding of what you need to accomplish in order to start that process.

Q. Would you recommend it to actors?

A. I would 100% recommend this course to actors. The knowledge & experience you receive is amazing.

Q. Anything else you would like to share that you think would be beneficial for actors?

A. One thing that actors need to understand that this course will not automatically get you signed or work in the US but it will give you the tools and knowledge to move that process forward.
