Make yourself go to auditions
It doesn’t matter how bad you are feeling, or how low on confidence you are – you are never going to pick yourself up by staying indoors. Get back on the horse and keep trying. Everyone hears ‘no’ from time to time. It’s unlikely to be a reflection on your talent, not everyone is fit for every part, so don’t let it impact you.
Have a makeover
Why not treat yourself to a haircut? Or, you could hire a personal stylist and treat yourself to some new clothes? This is sure to boost your confidence and make you feel good about yourself. You will have a spring in your step next time you go to an audition.
Focus on your health
Eating right and treating yourself well can make a massive difference. Eat good fats that are going to give you energy and boost your mood, such as salmon, unsalted nuts, and avocado. When feeling stressed, most people seek sugary foods for a quick surge of energy but this will make you feel worse in the long run. You could also indulge in a massage or facial. This will make you feel rejuvenated and is assured to boost your mood.
Watch some of the things you’ve appeared in
Most actors have copies of things they have featured in, from TV cameos to adverts to videos of theatre productions. Watch some of the things you have done. This will remind you of how great acting can be – giving you the get up and go to go out and do it all over again.
Spring blues won’t last forever, but if you feel down for long periods of time, it may be wise to seek help from your doctor. Either way, some or all of the tips above may help.
