It is important to follow relevant people if you are to grow your Twitter following in a manner that matters. Simply following a bunch of random accounts will do nothing for engagement and exposure. Relevancy is key – if they’re your peer group, or people you hope to get in front of, then follow them.
Don’t over-tweet about yourself
If you are too promotional, you will struggle to make an impact on Twitter. Talk about the industry in general; films you’ve watched recently, who was best dressed at an award ceremony, and so on. Also, tweeting about interesting things can make you more relateable and attract a bigger audience.
