In this seminar Casting Director Sherrie Henderson will talk candidly about screen acting and the key skills required for making a good screen actor.
If you are trying to break into screen acting, or if you already work regularly on screen, this is a chance to explore how you can develop your skills to progress within this area of the industry. There will also be a chance to ask your burning questions and hopefully dispel some classic industry myths.
Donna Morong is a respected casting director with over 25 years of experience in the business. She spent 15 years at The Walt Disney Company ultimately becoming Senior Vice President of Motion Picture Casting in the feature film division, where she cast films such as “PRINCESS DIARIES,” “SHANGHAI KNIGHTS,” “10 THINGS I HATE ABOUT YOU,” “DEUCE BIGOLO,” “ANNAPOLIS,” and “CONFESSIONS OF A TEENAGE DRAMA QUEEN”. In 2008, she won an Artios Award for casting Ben Affleck’s “GONE BABY GONE” for Miramax which garnered an Academy Award Nomination for Amy Ryan.
Ms. Morong began her career in casting in New York City working prestigious original Broadway productions including “HURLY BURLY,” “BILOXI BLUES,” and “BRIGHTON BEACH MEMOIRS”. She cast for Yale Repertory and Second Stage while concurrently running a successful studio for young actors on Theatre Row. For the past decade she has been running an acting studio in Hollywood, as well as working with under-served filmmakers for films that have appeared at Sundance, Cannes, Los Angeles Film Festival, and more.
Dorian Frankel has served as Casting Director on television series including Veep (HBO) (for which she won an Emmy and an Artios Award), Baskets (FX), Single Parents (ABC), Future Man (Hulu), Parks and Recreation (NBC), One Mississippi (Amazon), Idiotsitter (Comedy Central), Curb Your Enthusiasm (HBO), Maron (IFC), Kroll Show (Comedy Central), Eagleheart (Adult Swim), and more. She’s cast pilots for ABC, NBC, CBS, FOX, Comedy Central, Freeform, and TruTV, as well as several independent features and a variety of online content. Her love of comedy was nurtured during many years as an improviser. She has a degree in theater arts from Mount Holyoke College, writes songs from time to time, and makes a nice marmalade.
